Cape Sounion & Wine Tasting

 (Monday & Friday)

Departure: 2:30 pm
Return: 7:30 pm
Highlights: Depart from the terminal at 14:30 to arrive in brief in a special place suitably equipped ("Wine and Passion"), where we enjoy a wine tasting session with wines of several regions of the country. For Yiannis, the expert taster, the passion for the wine is born in his first youth, when he was spending hours in the wine-making fields of his father in the area of Mesogeia; Mesogeia is the land that Dionysos (Bacchus), the God of wine, chose in mythological times as his favorite place and place of his cult.Sunset at cape Sounio
We continue our tour crossing the residential neighborhoods of the coastal line of Athens to arrive at the historical site of cape Sounion, in the most extreme point of the province of Attica. This is the right point that the Athenians choose to erect this majestic temple dedicated to Poseidon (Neptune), who was the God of the seas and father of everything what there is in the immense oceans as well as protector of the Athenians nautical empire. From this point the Aegean Sea, which begins on cape's feet, in certain seasons offers unique and unforgettable sunsets. The place is very well-known by the references offered by Homer in the Odyssey and the temple dates from the fifth century B.C. Its particular architectonic rules obey to measures against the marine erosion and it is constructed with marble of the zone. On one of its stones the romantic English poet Lord Byron left his signature, testimony of his visit.
