One of the best managed hotels, the Tzekos offers an excellent option for those who want a quiet hotel, easy access to the town and its night life, and a splendid view of the volcano and the sea. Its 21 rooms are built on 3 levels. All units have private bathroom with shower/W.C, self regulated  A/C (warm and cold), a small refrigerator, TV, direct dial telephone, radio with piped music, safe box and terrace or balcony with volcano and sea view. The rooms are spacious and have either a matrimonial bed or two single beds. The triples have one matrimonial bed and a single bed (regular). The hotel has also four quadruples that have either two sleeping areas (with privacy) or have one loft with a double bed and two single beds in the sitting area. The furnishing is modern but you may find the mattresses a bit hard. The rooms are cleaned daily. Towels are changed daily, whereas the sheets every second day. General hotel facilities include a medium size swimming pool with umbrellas and sun beds that has a great view to the volcano, a pool bar, a small reception area which also serves as a bar and TV lounge, a breakfast room where continental buffet breakfast is served, and a terrace where one can sit and enjoy a drink or a coffee while watching the sunset.  The hotel provides a 24 hour reception, groom service (by the very friendly gentlemen at the reception), fax facilities, money exchange and assistance with the luggage (if informed in advance on time of arrival), as the hotel is not accessed by car and one must climb many steps to the rooms.

Right in the centre of Fira, a short walk from the nearest drop off point on the main road but quite a few steps down the side of the cliffs (assistance with luggage provided, if the hotel is informed on time of arrival). A most charming property of 8 units, all built in 1994 but according to the traditional architecture, while at the same time they meet all modern requirements in construction. There are 2 open-plan studios (up to 2 people), 2 standard apartments with one bedroom on a loft and the extra sofa bed on the ground floor (up to 3 people) and 4 superior 2-bedroom apartments that can sleep a fifth person in a sofa bed in the living room. Most rooms have double beds (regular size). All of them have private shower/W.C with hairdryer, A/C (warm/cold), basic cooking facilities (electric rings, utensils, refrigerator), direct dial phone, safe box, TV set. The rooms have each a balcony or a terrace with view to the sea and the volcano but they are not totally private. The furnishing is one of the best I have seen on the island, with antique furniture, artefacts, hand-made curtains, creating a very pleasant atmosphere. Cleaning is daily and the change of sheets and towels every second day, but in order to follow a more ecological approach, it is left to the client’s discretion (just throw them on the floor if you want them changed). Breakfast is rich continental, served either at the bar just over the rooms or in the room. The reception - very friendly and multi-lingual, run by Ms. Heidi, a very charming lady - completes the picture.

El Greco hotel is located only a few minutes from the centre of Fira town. It is a spacious complex of apartments, built around a medium-sized swimming pool. All apartments are very roomy (30-35sq.m.), nicely furnished, with double beds or two singles, private facilities (tub, W.C, hairdryer), open-plan bedroom with sitting area (sofa that is used as an extra bed, table and chairs), small fridge, safe box, A/C, satellite colour TV, direct dial phone and radio. There are also suites with a loft that can accommodate 4-6 persons and 2-bedroom apartments with separate living room. All units have a patio or balcony with view to the Eastern coast of the island or the pool (no privacy). Studios and suites have also basic cooking facilities (cooking rings, utensils). The hotels general facilities include 24-hour reception, bar, swimming pool with deck chairs, breakfast room (rich continental buffet breakfast), fitness centre and parking space at the front of the hotel. A very pleasant hotel with a very friendly and professional staff.

A lovely property right next door to Dana Villas, 1 km from Fira town. It consists of 26 units of three types: studios for 2 people, standard apartments for 2-4 people and superior apartments for 2 people. All units have double bed, private bathroom (shower/W.C and hairdryer), A/C, music, direct dial phone, fully equipped kitchenette with mini refrigerator, utensils and cooking rings and balcony or terrace with view to the sea and the volcano. The rooms are cleaned daily, linen is changed every second day. The studios are open plan, the apartments have 1 or 2 bedrooms and a separate living room. The third bed is usually a sofa. General facilities include reception, small swimming pool with great view, sun beds and umbrellas, snack bar and safe boxes. Breakfast is served by the pool. The hotel provides laundry service and grocery delivery service. As a long flight of cobbled steps leads to the property, a transfer upon arrival is strongly recommended.

The Nomikos Villas is a wonderful traditional style complex of 15 units (7 studios, 6 apartments and 2 maisonettes). All units are traditionally furnished and have private facilities with hair dryer, A/C, fully equipped kitchenette, satellite TV, safe deposit box, direct dial phone and view to the sea and the volcano. Most rooms also have their own balcony. The studios have an open-plan bedroom with double bed. The apartments have 1 or 2 bedrooms with a double bed each, 1 or 2 bathrooms respectively with bathtub and shower hose, living room with sofa bed, which can be converted into an extra double bed or two separate sofas. General facilities of the complex include reception area, swimming pool with pool bar, breakfast room. Other services: laundry, 24-hour room service, daily maid service.

This hotel is right in the centre of Fira town, about 15-20 steps off the main road. It consists of 25 rooms, all with view to the volcano and the sea. All units have private facilities (small tub/W.C), A/C, safe deposit box, mini fridge, telephone and balcony with view (in most cases the balcony is shared, not private). They are nicely furnished in traditional style. Apart from the standard rooms, there are 3 rooms with a double bed on a loft and an extra bed in the sitting area (sofa bed). The general facilities include reception and a swimming pool. Breakfast is buffet continental and is served on a terrace with volcano view. The same area operates as a bar later in the day. The owner also has a restaurant just next door, again with Caldera view.

The rooms have either a matrimonial bed or two single beds. In triples the third bed is a regular one. The furnishing is modern and pleasant. There are a few family rooms with 4 beds, and one suite usually offered to honeymooners as it is much bigger than the standard room and has a large matrimonial bed. Some rooms are offered as non-smoking. General hotel facilities include a spacious reception lounge, a pleasant breakfast area where rich American buffet breakfast is served, a bar and a coffee shop in the main lobby, a large swimming pool with sun beds and umbrellas, a pool bar where snacks and drinks are served, a small parking lot at the front of the hotel, a small sitting area with TV in the main lobby, and a couple of tourist shops. Other services provided are 24-hour reception and room service, safe boxes (for a fee in the lobby), fax facilities and money exchange. The hotel is a short walking distance to restaurants, shops and the nightlife of Fira. It can be accessed by car but the rooms can only be accessed by long flights of steps.

The property is located just 200 meters from Fira, along the rim of the Caldera. The 20 modern units, built in 1998 in the typical Cycladic architectural style, offer a traditional atmosphere with the comforts of a modern apartment. There are 3 types of rooms: studios for 2 persons or one-bedroom apartments with separate bedroom for 2-4 persons and two bedroom apartments with two bedrooms and two bathrooms (one with bathtub and one with shower) for 2-6 persons. Each house has a private bathroom with bathtub/W.C., ample sitting room, fully equipped kitchen cooking rings, utensils, refrigerator and oven (not in all), direct-dial phone, self-regulated A/C (warm and cold), satellite TV, and a big private terrace or balcony with volcano and sea view. The furnishing is comfortable but funny as it mingles different styles. Cleaning and change of towels are daily, change of sheets every second day. General hotel facilities include: a reception that operates from 8:00AM till midnight, a small swimming pool with umbrellas and sun beds, a pool bar, safe deposit boxes and a room where people arriving early or leaving late can leave their luggage and get some rest or have a shower, before checking in/out. Fax facilities and e-mail service are available. Breakfast is basic continental. The complex cannot be accessed by car, and several steps need to be climbed, but it is neither a difficult nor a long walk from the town’s centre.

The access to the hotel is easy - a short walk from the main road -, but the rooms are only accessible by long flights of steps.
