After a thorough renovation, the Aphrodite reopened in 2003
with a new appearance and name but still in the same very convenient location,
in Plaka and a short walking distance to the Acropolis, Syntagma square and all
interesting sights in Athens.
 There
are 84 fully refurbished rooms, all with en suite bathroom (shower or bathtub,
hair dryer, toiletries), A/C, mini fridge, satellite TV, safe deposit box,
direct dial phone, and Internet access. About half of the rooms are facing
Apollonos Street and have a comfortable balcony with sitting facilities
(superior & superior plus). Another 35 rooms are facing the Acropolis, the Plaka
and a charming Byzantine chapel, but do not have a balcony. There are also
interior rooms that have only a window facing the skylight (regular).
 These
rooms, however, are just as pleasant, with sufficient light and some are much
bigger than the standard outside rooms. There are only 3 triple rooms
(standard), where the 3rd bed is a sofa, and 6 family rooms, consisting of two
interconnecting doubles (one with twin beds, outside room and one with double
bed, interior room). Public areas: reception, breakfast room (buffet
continental) and lounge with bar for the evening hours, roof garden with
splendid view of the Acropolis, 4 well equipped meeting rooms for up to 60
people, private parking space for 15 cars (free of charge for the guests of the
hotel). The overall atmosphere is very pleasant, with comfortable and modern
Italian furniture in light colours, large mirrors that enhance the size of the
rooms, glass surfaces that allow the light to diffuse and ample artificial
lighting. |
The
hotel completed its very expensive renovation (that led to a category upgrade)
in 2003. It is located right in the heart of Plaka, and offers an excellent
location with great facilities.
There
are 131 rooms, 9 junior suites and 10 suites, all with ensuite facilities with
magnifying mirror, A/C, satellite TV with pay TV system, electronic safe, direct
dial phone in the bedroom and the bathroom, data port for Internet connection,
and mini bar. The superior rooms have all balcony with view to the Acropolis,
and the suites have Jacuzzi bathtub and separate shower. General facilities:
restaurant where buffet American breakfast and a la carte lunch and dinner are
served; bar; underground garage for 120 cars; spa facilities with indoor heated
pool, Jacuzzi, gym, sauna, steam bath and massage room; meeting facilities for
up to 300 persons. Services: 24-hour reception and room service, valet and
laundry service.
In
Plaka, on one of the most commercial streets of Athens, a few meters from the
Orthodox Cathedral ("Metropolis").
Air-conditioned throughout, central heating, roof garden with beautiful view to
the Acropolis, colorful lounge, bar and breakfast room. All 67 rooms with
private facilities, self controlled air conditioning, satellite TV, mini fridge,
safe deposit box, hairdryer, telephone; most rooms have wooden floors and there
are some connecting rooms.

with private bathroom, air-conditioning, mini-bar, colour TV, direct dial phone,
safe box and balcony. Standard rooms on lower floors with view to the street or
a back yard, and 6 special view rooms on top floors: three with view to the
Akropolis and the Agora (small balcony) and three with view to Lycabettus Hill
and main square of Plaka (veranda). American buffet breakfast served on the roof
garden with excellent view to the Acropolis.
The
hotel has been totally renovated in 2003-4 with a fresh atmosphere and special
touch and care to all little details. It is situated in Psyri’s upcoming area,
very popular to the Athenians, two streets off Monastiraki square in Plaka area
and only two minutes walk from Monastiraki underground station. The hotel
consists of 50 double rooms, refurbished with exclusive cotemporary design. Each
of the rooms offers luxury marble bathroom with bath or shower along with
hairdryer, air-condition, satellite TV, mini fridge, safe deposit box, telephone
and some of the rooms have also a balcony.
The
Cecil is housed in a neoclassical building of the early 20th century.
Located
on one of the busiest commercial streets of Athens and only a few minutes on
foot from Omonia square and the metro, it offers a good standard of
accommodation in a pleasant environment, and a well renovated building
(completed 2003). It has 40 rooms, all with private facilities (shower/W.C),
A/C, TV -set, and direct-dial phone. Four of the rooms are on the terrace (one
must climb one flight of stairs and walk out into the terrace before entering
the room) but these four share the terrace that has a splendid view of the
Acropolis. The furnishing is new (all twin-bedded) and smart. Triple rooms are
with 3 regular beds but if unavailable, a folding bed is added to the standard
double room. Single rooms have one double bed (slightly smaller than the
standard size). There are also family rooms with 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom,
where the 4th bed is a small folding bed (appropriate only for a child). There
is a very small reception desk and a breakfast room. One of the prettiest
features of the hotel is the iron elevator that is fully functional and has a
brand new mechanism. Facilities: Roof garden, Fax services, Daily cleaning
services, Luggage storage.
