How to get to the city center of Athens from the airport:

As of March 28th, 2001, there is only one airport in Athens, which serves both the international and domestic flights. The new Athens airport "Eleftherios Venizelos" is in Spata, about 30kms from the city centre and it is accessible as follows:

a) by bus: There are four 24-hour express bus lines, the X93, X95, X96 and X97. The ticket costs EUR 3,20 and can be used for only one trip from/to the airport:

X93: from the Kiffissos Coach Station to the Athens Airport

X95: from Syntagma square to the Athens Airport

X96: from Piraeus and Glyfada to the Athens Airport

X97: from the Dafni metro station to the Athens Airport

b) by the Athens Metro: Metro Line 3 (the "Blue Line") as far as Syntagma Square and Monastiraki (EUR 6,00 – valid for most means of transportation for 90’ after validation and there are discounts for buying more than 1 ticket (return tickets, groups). Check the Athens Metro Map.

c) by the Proastiakos Railway: as far as "Larissa Station" or you may change into Metro Line 2 at the "Doukissis Plakentias" station (EUR 6,00 – valid for most means of transportation for 90’ after validation and there are discounts for buying more than 1 ticket (return tickets, groups). Check the Proastiakos Map.

d) by taxi: outside the arrivals there is a taxi queue. The price list is available on an announcement board. All taxis have a meter and you may ask for the receipt. There is an airport fee of EUR 3,84 (from/to the airport) and a luggage fee of EUR 0,40 per piece of luggage over 10 kilos. Double tariff between 24:00 and 05:00. Minimum charge is EUR 3,16 and the meter starts at EUR 1,19.

e) by private taxi transfer: a taxi that will be waiting for you at the airport and will be only for you (max. 4 persons per taxi: if you have a lot of luggage, a second taxi may be needed). English speaking escort from our office is also available. Please contact us for further details.

TIP: As traffic conditions are unpredictable in Athens, we recommend allowing at least 1 hour to get to the airport. Rush hours are 8:00-10:00AM, 2:30-4:00PM and 8:00-9:00PM.
      We have added the sign of the Athens Metro next to the hotels that are very close (up to 500m) from a metro station.
