One of the best managed hotels, the Tzekos offers an excellent option for those who want a quiet hotel, easy access to the town and its night life, and a splendid view of the volcano and the sea. Its 21 rooms are built on 3 levels. All units have private bathroom with shower/W.C, self regulated  A/C (warm and cold), a small refrigerator, TV, direct dial telephone, radio with piped music, safe box and terrace or balcony with volcano and sea view. The rooms are spacious and have either a matrimonial bed or two single beds. The triples have one matrimonial bed and a single bed (regular). The hotel has also four quadruples that have either two sleeping areas (with privacy) or have one loft with a double bed and two single beds in the sitting area. The furnishing is modern but you may find the mattresses a bit hard. The rooms are cleaned daily. Towels are changed daily, whereas the sheets every second day. General hotel facilities include a medium size swimming pool with umbrellas and sun beds that has a great view to the volcano, a pool bar, a small reception area which also serves as a bar and TV lounge, a breakfast room where continental buffet breakfast is served, and a terrace where one can sit and enjoy a drink or a coffee while watching the sunset.  The hotel provides a 24 hour reception, groom service (by the very friendly gentlemen at the reception), fax facilities, money exchange and assistance with the luggage (if informed in advance on time of arrival), as the hotel is not accessed by car and one must climb many steps to the rooms.

Right in the centre of Fira, a short walk from the nearest drop off point on the main road but quite a few steps down the side of the cliffs (assistance with luggage provided, if the hotel is informed on time of arrival). A most charming property of 8 units, all built in 1994 but according to the traditional architecture, while at the same time they meet all modern requirements in construction. There are 2 open-plan studios (up to 2 people), 2 standard apartments with one bedroom on a loft and the extra sofa bed on the ground floor (up to 3 people) and 4 superior 2-bedroom apartments that can sleep a fifth person in a sofa bed in the living room. Most rooms have double beds (regular size). All of them have private shower/W.C with hairdryer, A/C (warm/cold), basic cooking facilities (electric rings, utensils, refrigerator), direct dial phone, safe box, TV set. The rooms have each a balcony or a terrace with view to the sea and the volcano but they are not totally private. The furnishing is one of the best I have seen on the island, with antique furniture, artefacts, hand-made curtains, creating a very pleasant atmosphere. Cleaning is daily and the change of sheets and towels every second day, but in order to follow a more ecological approach, it is left to the client’s discretion (just throw them on the floor if you want them changed). Breakfast is rich continental, served either at the bar just over the rooms or in the room. The reception - very friendly and multi-lingual, run by Ms. Heidi, a very charming lady - completes the picture.

El Greco hotel is located only a few minutes from the centre of Fira town. It is a spacious complex of apartments, built around a medium-sized swimming pool. All apartments are very roomy (30-35sq.m.), nicely furnished, with double beds or two singles, private facilities (tub, W.C, hairdryer), open-plan bedroom with sitting area (sofa that is used as an extra bed, table and chairs), small fridge, safe box, A/C, satellite colour TV, direct dial phone and radio. There are also suites with a loft that can accommodate 4-6 persons and 2-bedroom apartments with separate living room. All units have a patio or balcony with view to the Eastern coast of the island or the pool (no privacy). Studios and suites have also basic cooking facilities (cooking rings, utensils). The hotels general facilities include 24-hour reception, bar, swimming pool with deck chairs, breakfast room (rich continental buffet breakfast), fitness centre and parking space at the front of the hotel. A very pleasant hotel with a very friendly and professional staff.

A lovely property right next door to Dana Villas, 1 km from Fira town. It consists of 26 units of three types: studios for 2 people, standard apartments for 2-4 people and superior apartments for 2 people. All units have double bed, private bathroom (shower/W.C and hairdryer), A/C, music, direct dial phone, fully equipped kitchenette with mini refrigerator, utensils and cooking rings and balcony or terrace with view to the sea and the volcano. The rooms are cleaned daily, linen is changed every second day. The studios are open plan, the apartments have 1 or 2 bedrooms and a separate living room. The third bed is usually a sofa. General facilities include reception, small swimming pool with great view, sun beds and umbrellas, snack bar and safe boxes. Breakfast is served by the pool. The hotel provides laundry service and grocery delivery service. As a long flight of cobbled steps leads to the property, a transfer upon arrival is strongly recommended.

The Nomikos Villas is a wonderful traditional style complex of 15 units (7 studios, 6 apartments and 2 maisonettes). All units are traditionally furnished and have private facilities with hair dryer, A/C, fully equipped kitchenette, satellite TV, safe deposit box, direct dial phone and view to the sea and the volcano. Most rooms also have their own balcony. The studios have an open-plan bedroom with double bed. The apartments have 1 or 2 bedrooms with a double bed each, 1 or 2 bathrooms respectively with bathtub and shower hose, living room with sofa bed, which can be converted into an extra double bed or two separate sofas. General facilities of the complex include reception area, swimming pool with pool bar, breakfast room. Other services: laundry, 24-hour room service, daily maid service.

This high standard property offers one of the best views in Santorini, without being difficult to access (a flight of 30 steps and then a flat 10 minute walk - no car access but parking space is nearby available). Astra Apartments consist of 19 units, all of them built in 1992. There are 3 types of rooms: standard apartments with separate bedroom (2-3 people), superior apartments with separate bedroom (2-4 people) and apartments with 2 separate bedrooms and 2 bathrooms (with shower) for 2-6 people. Recently the complex acquired 2 suites, one with one bedroom and the other with two bedrooms, that are decorated in a very modern and rather minimal style, and also have a fireplace. All apartments have private bathroom with shower/W.C, hairdryer and complimentary toiletries, a fully equipped kitchenette with cooking rings, utensils and refrigerator, satellite TV, self-regulated A/C (warm/cold), direct dial phone, radio, safe box, computer modem access and terrace or balcony with a magnificent view of the Caldera, extending from Oia to Akrotiri. All rooms have double beds, and only the extra beds are sofa ones. In the suites there are king size beds. The furnishing is very stylish and various artifacts and antiques decorate the spacious rooms. General hotel facilities include: a reception housed in an original cave house, a breakfast room by the pool where rich, home-made continental breakfast is served, a medium size swimming pool with umbrellas and sun beds, a pool bar with snacks, and a restaurant preparing light meals. Just a short walk from the main road of the village, the Chromata is a high-class accommodation offering excellent service and beautiful views to the Caldera. The complex consists of 17 units of 3 types: studios (1-2 people), apartments with one or two bedrooms (2-4 people) and suites with one or two bedrooms (2-4 people). Built on the foundations of old island structures, the rooms offer private bathrooms with shower or bathtub and W.C, self-regulated A/C (warm/cold), direct dial phone, music, mini bar, refrigerator and balcony or terrace with Caldera view. The furnishing is mixed modern and traditional but very stylish. Cleaning service and change of towels take place daily. The sheets are changed every second day. General hotel facilities include a reception, a beautifully designed small swimming pool, pool bar, and a breakfast area by the pool where American buffet breakfast is served. The reception is multilingual (8:00AM to midnight). The hotel offers also 24 hours room service, laundry service and fax facilities. Chromata can be reached by car but one must climb steps to the rooms.

This complex is newly built and snug into the cliff of Imerovigli, overlooking the Pelagos and the old crater of the volcano. The hotel offers a front desk with bellboy service, laundry service, swimming pool, private massage sessions by arrangement, room service and valet service twice daily. The Rocabella is located a short drive (3kms) from Fira and about 1.5kms from the centre of Imerovigli (not walking distance). It is built on a mount, at one of the narrowest points of, and offers great views to both sides of the island. There are 3 separate buildings (one of them only recently built) that house studios (2 people), apartments with one separate bedroom, apartments with two separate bedrooms and two bathrooms (2-6 people) and suites (described here below), accommodating 2 to 6 people. All rooms have private bathroom with shower or bathtub, W.C and hairdryer, kitchenette with cooking rings, utensils and refrigerator, direct-dial phone, self-regulated A/C (warm/cold), satellite TV, safe box, and private terrace or patio with Caldera view. Some rooms have matrimonial beds, some single ones. The extra beds are either sofa or regular ones. The furnishing is traditional and stylish. Cleaning and change of linen/towels are daily. General hotel facilities include a reception (open 8:00AM to midnight), 2 swimming pools with umbrellas and sun beds, tennis court (equipment available), pool bar, main bar, breakfast room where both continental or American breakfast are served, and which also operates as a restaurant, and conference facilities with equipment for up to 150 people (will be completed in the year). • “Le Nozze di Figaro” honeymoon suite has a living room with a loft above (carrying two separate beds) and a separate bedroom. The bed is king size. The suite has a beautiful view to the sunset and the volcano.

• “Windmill” honeymoon suite is a 3 storey windmill with the bedroom on the top floor, the living room in the middle floor, bathroom and cupboards at the lower floor (extra sofa beds). The view over the volcano and the sunset is sensational.

The hotel can be accessed by car and has rooms that involve only very few steps.

The complex is newly built (completed in 2000) and located 3 km from Fira. It consists of 12 units, studios for 2 persons and apartments for 2-4 persons and suites for up to 4 persons. All of them have private facilities with shower and W.C, TV, air-condition, kitchenette and direct dial phone. It is beautifully furnished in traditional style and offers a beautiful view to the Caldera. The complex offers rich buffet breakfast and has a reception area where Internet access can be found. The bus stop is right outside the property. The apartments have very easy access because the backside, where the entrance is, is on the same level as the road, so only a couple of steps are involved.

One of the most famous properties on the island, Perivolas has gained its reputation thanks to its high standard service and beautiful architectural design. There are 14 vaulted houses (built out of old wineries), accommodating 2 to 5 people in one bedroom and extra sofa beds in the living room, and 3 suites for up to 3 people with one bedroom and an extra sofa bed in the living room. Canaves means wineries, and the original building (Canaves I) was built 12 years ago on the foundations of one such winery. The Canaves II was built only 4 years ago, about 100m from the I, following the same traditional architecture. Numbering about 23 units in total, most of which are cave units, each complex has apartments with one or two separate bedroom and a suite. The two bedroom apartments have also two bathrooms. In Canaves I there is also one studio.  All houses have private bathroom with shower or bathtub (in all suites and the 2-bedroom apartments), hairdryer and W.C, centrally regulated A/C (warm/cold), fully equipped kitchen (with rings, oven, utensils and refrigerator), direct-dial phone, TV, safe box, radio, adapters for computer modem access, and private or shared terrace/balcony with Caldera view. Most rooms have double bed but there are a few with single beds. The extra bed is either sofa or folding. Furnishing is stylish and different in each room. Of the suites, the one in Canaves I has a Jacuzzi bathtub. The suite in Canaves II is a 2-storey building with a bedroom on the ground floor with 2 single beds, and a second double bed on a loft. This suite is fully accessible from the street and has only one step at the entrance. The rest of the rooms have several steps. Cleaning and change of towels are daily. The sheets are changed every second day. Most of the rooms in Canaves II are non smoking. There is only one reception (in Canaves I) that serves both buildings and operates from 8:00AM till midnight.
